Hey all, just curious if anyone knew off-hand if a 09-10 or 11-13 overhead console is directly swappable with an 08? I know some (all?) of the 11's may have the safety connect button, so I'm assuming the 08 harness may not directly swap with it those that have that button, or if it does, I imagine the safety connect won't work (which I don't care about, I don't pay for it in my RX either). I can grab one with the safety connect for cheap, thought I'd ask just to be sure.

I tried to find a picture off one of the listings in eBay but nobody posts pictures of the connector. Ask one of the sellers to send you a picture and you should be set. I did a headliner swap recently and didn't realize till the mirror wouldn't plug in that the harness in the headliner I got was different and was for a car without Bluetooth. Good luck!

Does your 2008 have Navigation? Does it have a sunroof?

If you want a 2009+ overhead console without safety connect, I would suggest getting one from Canada, we never had it.

There were a few variations on the consoles, but they're all relatively similar. Obviously the big difference is safety connect and the sunroof control differences.

If you post the details about your car, I can probably put together what you'd want/need and how easy it would be to get working.

My 08 has sunroof and nav. I'm really only interested in the newer consoles as I can't stand the **** control. If any of them will work (even if it has safety connect), it's fine with me. I see a few on eBay that are supposedly off newer models without the safety connect.

Safety Connect was added in 2010 to USA models. The ones you were seeing on eBay were likely from 2009 USA models or 2009+ Canadian models (or other countries, possibly).

The differences in wiring between years are very minor. For your car, I would recommend getting one from a 2009 car with navigation if possible. It will be a direct plug-in and all functionality should work. In 2010, the microphone had a detection wire added (though it still should work fine in older cars), additionally the "Auto" switch for the sunroof was removed. If you get one from a 2009 car without navigation, it won't have a microphone installed. 2010+ cars all have microphones.

Here is the pinout, I'm pretty sure this is accurate for all years, but I did not verify every single year for every single pin. Mainly compared 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 (some).

Hey I was just wondering if any of
yall got it to work I just replaced my overhead sunroof controls with a 2010+ version I currently have a is250 from 2008 with a sunroof but it’s a non nav everything works except the sunroof controls and the sos button I really don’t care if the sos button doesn’t work I just wanna be able to use my sunroof like normal because at the moment I have to do I weird combination of holding 2 buttons at once for example to open the sun roof I have to press and hold the tilt and down button at the same time but to close it I have to hold down and close and it’s iffy at best if any of yall could help me and tell me what I’m doing wrong I would really appreciate thanks :-)

Hi 2isLovell, I also tried to upgrade my overhead switch and the sunroof didn't work for me as well, but since you make it work it's seems to me that you just need to do rewiring/ repinning since connector the same.
