Default Fresh-air button causes loud buzz

Hi, all. I turned on my AC the other day with the Fresh Air button pushed on my '09 IS250 and it sounded like Jason had crawled in there with a chainsaw! It doesn't happen with the Recirculation button selected. Sounds like fan blades against plastic. Is this a common fault?

Thanks!
Karl

Yes, surprisingly common, especially considering that it is nearly always self-inflicted by owners (and maybe some quickie oil change places) that try to change their cabin filter without putting the system into recirculate mode first. Here is a how-to on the fix: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...g-to-circ.html

Not sure if this is OP problem. I had ac running few days ago but not on the fresh air button and expirenced the same thing. For 10-15 seconds and it stopped. Someone told me my gear might be going out that controls the flap by cabin filter. I know how to change my cabin air filter the proper way and always changed it the proper way so in my case it's not user error. Haven't experienced the sound since then...

Whenever i turn on the Heat, the noise in glove box sounds like Helicopter, is that DIY related ? or my blower fan bearing is no good ?

Here is a video I found on YouTube showing what it sounds like after the cabin filter is changed without putting the system in recirculate mode first.
