I had my car in for recalls last week and my tech said they don't have parts yet. I'm in Canada though, but have a US car so I've got my eye out too.

I spoke to Lexus customer service 3 weeks ago and the agent told me that Toyota is currently working on those vehicles that need the drivers side airbag replaced and will be finally be getting to vehicles that need the passenger side airbag replaced in the spring of 2017.

I have a 2006 IS350 and according to Toyota my passenger side airbag is the one that needs to be replaced. Drivers side is fine.

I called three dealers in my area (Los Angeles, CA) asking when they expect to receive the replacement inflators for the Takata passenger-side air bags. Two said they are expecting delivery in January 2017 and the third said early February.

Edit: my call was regarding my 2008 ES

I spoke directly to Lexus and they said that Toyota is currently replacing Driver side air bags on those vehicles that require it starting with the oldest vehicles that are in the south and eventually getting to those that are in northern climates.

They will then start replacing the passenger side (2006 IS350) in the Spring/Summer of 2017. Again starting with the oldest vehicles in the south first.

So it is:

1. Which air bag (Driver or Passenger)
2. Age of Vehicle
3. Geographic Location of Vehicle.
