Engine Ticking When cold? ( With video ) Help Please
Hey guys,
Recently I purchased a 2008 IS250 with 150,000km (90k miles) on the clock.
I have noticed that only when the engine is cold and starting to warm up ( maybe the first 3-5 minutes of driving that a ticking noise is audible within the cabin.
This mainly occurs with acceleration (load) in drive and it gets faster as I accelerate or Slower as I decelerate.
I'm hoping that someone who has had the same issue can point me in the right direction.
I have searched these forums and i've come across people saying its the tappets that need adjusting or cams need replacing.
Here is a video (slightly hard to hear) and if anyone has any advice, it would be appreciated.

I know it's basic, but what type of oil (include oil weight) are you using and do you check the level of the motor oil when hot or cold? Any smoke coming out of the exhaust at any time?
I'm just hoping it isn't a valve issue.
If you've not recently checked the oil level, you should. The smoke I'm talking about is from burning coolant (sweet smell) - white smoke or dark smoke (burning oil).
Have you noticed any downgrade in the vehicle's performance?
