Default Should I buy

So I have been looking at different threads throughout the is - 2nd gen forum. And I'll find posts that are dying how amazing the cars are and how reliable they are. And then I find posts about how if you hit a pothole your car can get messed up. So, obviously I realize no car is perfect. But I'm looking at purchasing an IS250. I found a 2009 with around 64,000 miles for $14K and then a 2012 with 47,000 miles for around $20K. I personally like the color of the 2009 better but if the 2012 is a more reliable car then I would obviously purchase that one. So my question is would you recommend purchasing either of the cars? Or avoid one of them? For common issues that the two model years get because obviously you don't the specific details of each one.

Thank you!

2012 won't have the carbon build-up issue.

I vote 2012.

^ like he said, and also it's usually wise to buy the newest model you can afford of a car. Usually has less problems than earlier gens

I've owned a 2006 and a 2012, i would say 2012 all day. the extra 6K should go along way to repaying itself in the long run

Why not get an IS350 way more reliable and much more fun to drive.

Since my friend found a local IS350 with 74k miles on it for $14k, I'd highly suggest looking at one instead.

+1 for the IS350, and go for the 2012 if you can.. Carbon build up issue being the reason for that

If I'm not mistaken Lexus dealers are taking care of the carbon buildup problem by rebuilding the engine and using the updated parts with no cost to the driver.

Default Bought car

To everyone who has posted on the this thread! I've definitely appreciated the feedback. I ended up buying a 2012 Lexus is250! I didn't get the 350 because I wasn't able to find one that I liked. Definitely love my purchase!
