07 IS 250 AWD noise help??
Hi guys wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions here in regards to an issue I am having with my 07 Lexus IS 250 AWD.
I just recently about 2 weeks ago replaced the Drivers rear CV Axle as over the past months the clicking and clunking got bad. I purchased a used axle from a junk yard and installed it myself.
So I drove the car locally a couple days and everything is sounding fine and got it up to 45-55MPH.
Well now it's starting to vibrate some at higher speeds and almost roar loudly. Then it will go away.
Also, I started hearing the same noise on the left rear which isn't a huge surprise and might have been happening at the same time, but maybe I couldn't hear it because the other was so bad.
The problem is it didn't used to vibrate intermittently and I think I heard a click on the right rear last night a couple times.
So here is what I wanted to see if I messed something up or missing something.
1. Could they have sent me a wrong CV Axle? They matched up perfectly, but would I have been able to tell the difference from an AWD vs a RWD axle by looking?
Could the axle be bent? Did I align it up incorrect with the spline or would it matter. Didn't seem hard to do. Could it have leaked out fluid from the differential?
Could this be my other side or something with the differential I am missing and maybe both sides needed replacement?
Thanks for the help I just really don't know what it could be?
