Default IS 350 AWD howling noise

I hear a howling noise in my IS 350 AWD while accelerating and coasting around 60 mph on the highway after the car warms up. It seems to come from behind the driver. The techs at the dealership also hear the noise but say the car is fine and the noise is normal. They showed me that the noise also existed in a test drive car.

Do any other IS 350 AWD drivers hear the same noise? If so, have you tried correcting it or is it normal with the car? Thanks for you input.

Unforunately, I have never experienced the noise that you are speaking of...I actually really like how little road noise there is on the highway with my car. As well, I dont remember hearing this noise on my test drive of a awd 350 either. Hopefully you get it all figured out

It is possible it maybe comming from the transfer case, which is located near at the driver's right foot with that hump on it. If yes, then there is not much you can do since that is the nature of the AWD, more moving parts = more noise.

If you test the RWD version, you would not hear this and the car would sound significantly more quieter.

Could also be tires,...different brands make different noises. iyf350 and Trza what tires are you using?

I have the stock Bridgestone Potenza RE92's on my car. I looked at user reviews for them on tirerack.com and it seems like they are pretty expensive and not so highly rated. I hope the noise is just a normal aspect of the car or a simple explanation such as tire noise.
