I own a IS350, an accident happens last week, the engine failed. However the driver is my cousin and the insurance company is not going to cover this accident. Now I am looking for a used engine for my IS350. I tried to find it online but I can't find a engine which come form a 2014 model. So I am wondering can I use a 2012 IS350 engine on my 2014 IS model
which part of the engine failed? the head? the bottom end? you might not need an entire engine. how do you know the engine died?
The car was rollover in the accident, all the oil flow out. And the engine was working without oil for a minute. The entire engine is failed, could not ask them to disassemble the entire engine and check all the parts and rebuild the engine, the labor costs might be more expensive than a used engine.
I know they are the same engine, that's why I am wondering. I am afraid the 2012 engine could not match the 2014 model, I'm not sure the powertrain are 100% the same.

Lets forget about the engine first? the car was in a rollover accident and you are going to repair it? it is not totalled as repairable without going beyond the value of the car? Body damage was not extensive in cost?

There are almost no body damage because the car rollover in dirt
I got into an accident with my dad's car and I was not listed under his insurance. The car was still covered. Are you sure your insurance company is giving you the right info?

this is usually true for legit insurance companies. the car is covered as long as a licensed driver is driving it. cheapo budget insurances do not have this coverage.
i agree with the comment above. if insurance doesn't cover it, you should get your cousin to pay. aka sue if you have to. the 3is is not a civic you can piece together like the good-ole-days. he effed up, he should pay.

Because that is you dad's car, insurance should cover
Your insurance is screwing you... If your cousin had permission from the owner to drive the car, then it should be covered...
The only way this isn't covered is one of two things:
1. You agreed to a clause in your policy that nobody under a certain age (usually 25) would be driving the car, which if you violated that, then yeah your on your own.
2. This damaged happened as a result of racing,
So how did your cousin doing to lose control of the car and roll it?
