Default IS350 transmission pan leaking

I see the transmission pan gasket leaking a little, not dripping at all. I went and check the bolts and some are pretty loose. Can i just re-tighten the bolts down and be done? please advise

Thanks

Drain all the oil, unscrew all the bolt, take out oils pan then get new gasket from dealer, then add 2 quart of ATF transmission oil from Toyota or Lexus dealer.

Over the 30 years I've been tinkering with cars it's been hit or miss for me when tightening loose oil pan / transmission pan bolts to stop a very slow leak or seepage. If you do decide tighten them up I'd recommend torquing them to the proper value and doing it in the correct sequence if you can. Unfortunately I don't know what the torque value or sequence is for these transmissions.

I dont have the specs or a torque wrench, i figure just go around and just firmly tighten the bolts down for now. Should help the seepage. Thanks

I try to look up spec for transmission torque, but can't find any information so we just hand tight.

I'd recommend NOT torquing the bolts. More than likely you'll increase the speed/size of the leak. Either replace the leaking gasket or nurse it.

The one time I thought torquing oil pan bolts to spec would help my leak; ended up being quite the opposite and I almost blew a motor due to lack of oil after a major increase in leaking oil.

^That's good to hear; just keep a close eye on it. If you park inside, use a piece of cardboard under the car to help monitor for leaks.

Does our trans pan use a composite gasket or a rubber gasket? My oil pan story involved a rubber gasket, which could result in different results if using a composite gasket.

Am not sure what material its on there, i know that its oem from original. It looks like some kind of composite to me while i was tightening the bolts up.Yes i park in the garage and will be monitor it. Thanks

Torque for the transmission pan bolts is 39 in-lbs.

Here is a pic of the transmission gasket:

Cork-rubber?
