Default Low Engine Oil Lite

Did a search, but none of the posts I saw note same circumstances. Was running errands yesterday after finally digging my car out. I'm down the Joisey shore. Low engine oil triangle warning came on.
Buzzer didnt sound, just the lite. Engine has oil in in. Put a large piece of cardboard under the car over nite and didnt see any oil leak. Checked oil first thing this AM and there was plenty of oil in the car. I'm thinking some sensor went bad or maybe a mouse held up in the engine during the storm and may have chewed wiring.Took off all the engine shrouds today and couldnt see any oil any where.
Anybody have any idea. Closest Lexus dealer is like 30 mi away so I made an appointment for tom w/Toyota dealer who said they s/b able to correct problem. Thanks for anything you can add

So when you checked the oil dipstick, what was the oil level at? Did you check the oil on a level surface? Who does your oil changes?

The warning light is a low-level indicator, not an "idiot light" like on some cars. So you probably have not caused any internal damage at this point.

Just monitor the situation closely.

Car was on level surface and dipstick showed between full and add after letting car sit overnite. Local Toyota dealer did last 2 oil changes since Lexus dealer is more than 30 mi away.Just moved down here Sept 2014 No Lexus dealers close by..Next oil change is due in about 1k mi. Check oil regularly and never had any problems before..
Appreciate your response----thank you

Let's just hope it was a "phantom" error code. But if it continues to return, look into the low-level sensor and "float" mech...and of course the wiring leading to it. I've read about someone having to replace the sensor before AND another member having to replace the seal between the sensor and block due to oil leaking.

Just got back from Toyota. No oil leaks,no apparent wiring problems, car had plenty of oil all during this problem. Got an oil change just in case.Drove the car 15mi since oil change and no lite (knock on wood). Will go to lexus if it happens again. It just may be one of those problems that are gonna be a ***** to resolve. Gville, thanks again for your help.

No problem. Just check the oil weekly until you start to feel confident the "issue" resolved itself.
