From my past experience, That plastic piece actually holds some of the tabs on each side of your bumper so that if looks flush with the car. There are tabs on your bumper that slide underneath tabs on that plastic piece. hope this helps.

Some sort of plastic buffer that attaches to the fender, bumper, and possibly the headlight. It fills in what would otherwise be empty space. Perhaps helps with any potential sagging issues.

Anyhow, I just "grinded" mine down along with the surrounding metal. I'm running 225/35/19s, lowered on BCRs, and a 20 degree offset. Until I grinded down everything for the second time, on HARD potholes or bumps or step-ups in the road, my tire got slightly sliced by the metal/plastic that you're displaying above. Better safe than sorry...GRIND it away!

Can you please explain what you mean by Grind? Are you sanding it or cutting it?

Both. Cut metals and plastics and sand them so they dont cut through the tires

Grind, as in I used my Dewalt grinder and hit both the metal and plastic under there with a grinding disc to remove excess material.

I'm rubbing on the exact same piece and I have 225/35/19. I just switched to Michelin Supersports. I use to have Hankook V12 and never had the rubbing issue.

^The SSs are a meatier tire; heck, the 245/40/18 SSs I put on my factory 18s are as large as some 255s in some other brands that I've ran.
