Default Low Oil Light Question

I have an 08 IS250 AWD, This is the 2nd time my oil light has came on since i owned it since last year. The first time the oil was little below the minimum mark and it did the same thing tonight. Is this a common issue for the 2.5? I don't see any leaks that i am aware of.

You ought to be checking your oil level more frequently; I wouldn't wait for the low oil light to come on.

Cars can lose oil both through leaks and by burning it. How many miles has it been taking to consume a quart of oil?

I put a quart in it 2 months ago, it needs a oil change i know that also. Can the car needing an oil change cause it to lose oil? It just started this a few months ago light has came on 2 times in the past 4 months.

Did you fill it back to the full level or did you just add a quart? Also, how many miles are on this engine? does blue smoke come from you exhaust? If the previous owner did not change the oil regularly or if its a high mileage motor, it may consume more than motor in good condition.

I would start with an oil change and monitor the oil burned approx every 1K miles. I would think around 1/3 quart every 5K miles is normal for an older motor.
