Default Remote starter

Hello!

I currently own a 2008 is250 without navigation.

Winter is coming fast and I'm thinking of getting a remote starter installed on my car.

I'm looking into the ones which you can Control them from your phone. I found Compustar (drone) as an interesting choice.

Has anyone had it installed on their vehicles?

Thanks for the help!

I have a remote start that has a very long range (advertised 1 mile but it's shorter), but not smart phone integration. I found that's all I really need; when I'm in range and need to walk to my car, it's a 5 minute walk and that's enough for the car to cool down for the summer.

I'm not sure if the tech has improved a lot since I looked at it a couple years ago. There were complains of it being slow and non responsive so you always need to carry the normal backup remote. You also need to pay a monthly or yearly fee. The smart phone integration (I think it was called Smart Start), it's a separate module that can connect to the regular remote start if you want it later.

I know about the yearly fee and everything. I'm just looking to see if someone else had it installed and if any issues were found afterwards.

I have an Astrostart RSS5224 installed on my 07' 250, it was taken out of my parents Odyssey from 2007. Works great but I don't think the model is around anymore. Unlike other systems, instead of stopping the engine when you open the door, it gives you 45 seconds to depress the brake pedal to keep the engine running. The range is pretty good too. Unless you are trying to start your car from deep inside a building, you don't really need more than the fob. But I would like to have the smart phone integration for convenience though. But it's out of my price range. I don't remember how much the unit itself costed, but installation was around $250 at a sound shop.

So i finally did it and found a nice shop in Montreal who did it relatively cheap and fast.

The system is currently running only in Eastern Canada and it's called MyStart.

So far it's running pretty smoothly and problem free.

The really good thing about this remote starter is that it's controlled via smartphone and it has NO yearly fee.
