Default 2011 IS250 w/ no HIDs??

Whats up CL?! new guy to the forums. i hope you guys can help me out and point me in the right direction.

I recently got a 2011 Lexus IS250. I was under the impression that all 2011+ IS250s all come with HIDs. But after further research, i found out that Lexus also released 2011 IS250s with regular halogen headlights (with projectors) as well. So here is my situation...

I would like to have HIDs on my 250. After doing some reading here in the forums, it seems like doing a HID conversion would be a easy option (and cheaper). But, i do like the LED DRLs as well. I can't seem to find a direct answer to this (and it may be a very simple answer). Could i do a direct switch of headlights to the 2011 HID headlights with LED DRLs? meaning just plug and play without any modifications.

I found these on eBay and asked the seller if they would fit and he said all 2011 IS250s should have HIDs. but mine doesn't.

here is a link to the auction
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181812992650?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
i also included a picture of the headlights on my 2011 IS250. as you can see, no LED DRLs, so no HIDs. will these headlights fit?? should i get the OEM HID headlights?

thanks in advance for all your help!

come on dude; yes, you can "plug and play". Only the IS350 comes with HID at factory from those years. OEM looks the best, but the least value -- but if you got money, why not.

If you really want the Led drl's I highly suggest you search for a thread on here labeled something like "deep ebay headlight review" . It's all about a members experience with some lights he ordered from VipMotoz.

Generally it's a very positive review and as far as i know , their plug and play from what I remember reading. Just make sure you order the correct set because you do NOT want to get a faulty or cheap pair and have the led strip go out like they have in older replicas.

Also if all you really want is some nice HID's , you should just order the kit from amazon for like $30 give or take. That's what I did with my 06 Although I may opt for the led lights later down the road... Oh and welcome to Club Lexus !!!

I'm really considering the set but the price is steep but I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run. I'm still debating. thanks for the input. i really appreciate it!

i believe i did read that thread. it wasn't exactly the ones i mentioned but he did give positive reviews about it. i definitely don't want to get a cheap set. i been down that road in the past with my is300. i just wanted to know all the information about this subject before i dish out that kind of money.

I've read some threads as well about just adding a HID kit. It doesn't look like a difficult task at all but i just like those LED DRLs. haha ... if you were in my shoes, what would you do? get the new LED DRL headlights or do a HID conversion?

thanks for your help. i really appreciate the advice! also, thanks for the welcome! i know I'm really gonna like it here!

Well in my situation I just went for the HID kit, cost less and much easier to do lol. I did want the Led lights too and I still kinda do, but I figured I would wait till I modify my cars exterior more before I make the change. Instead what I did is I had my headlights restored, installed 10k hid's , and put yellow vinyl on my fog lights. I also put red outs on my tail lights as well and have been with the same setup for my lights since I bought my car pretty much. And to be honest I almost feel that I prefer the 06 head light look more than the Led DRL look, at least right now that I don't have a kit or anything yet.

nice! thanks for the input man. you have a great point about getting the new headlights when i want to do more exterior mods. i think i will go with the HID conversion. as much as i like those LED DRLs, i know its not a necessity.

you're setup sounds pretty cool. any pics or threads i can check out so i can see it? I'm curious to see how it looks. haha

Sorry I took long , but here's the picture as promised.

For whatever reason, my bulbs came out looking slightly purple. I think they mixed them up and labeled them as 10000k because my previous ones were more blue. The fogs also look a lot more yellow in person, my camera just makes them look like that

I also have a 2nd pair I ordered but they are 12k bulbs. I'll try and install by this weekend and post my results here so you can get a feel for the blue look. I may also have to send these so called "10k" bulbs back since they're the wrong color and one has in issue where it keeps dying. I'll keep you updated with the 12k's though.

Probably the car is 2010... As mine, since 2012 on the road, but model 2010 - means, out of factory at 2010... You can check this by VIN
Good Luck.
P.s. also interested in oem heads with DRLs.

yeah, might have been a little mix up. i see that purple tint pretty good. the fogs look nice man. I'm thinking about getting a pair of 9006 LED fog light bulbs for my car. I'm still debating on it though because i do like the yellow fogs as contrast.

my HID kit came in earlier this week but i haven't had the chance to put them in just yet. i went with the 6500k set from XenonDepot.

How do i check it by VIN to be absolutely sure?

the LED DRLs look badass I'm not going to lie. lol ... but im not sure if i really want (or need) it that bad for that kind of price tag.
