Default Left Front Axel Boot Ripped

Got my car back from service (brought in for misfire - that's another story in itself) and one of the issues found was that the Left Front Axel boot was ripped and there was no grease in the CV joint. Quoted price was $ 1307 but not sure if this was to replace the entire left front axel or just the CV joint. Anyone else have this issue?

If you want a cheaper alternative you can get the part yourself. A remanufactured one will cost you $65.79 with a $30 core from rock auto.

If you don't want to do it yourself you can buy the part and take it to an independent shop for installation.

CV boots will fail on all vehicles with time. They typically go out between 80,000 and 120,000 miles.

Lexus only replaces the entire half shaft.
