Question Black chrome grille surround?

Anyone know how I might achieve / buy a black chrome grille surround for my 09 2is? It doesn't sound as simple as "painting it black chrome". Can this actually be purchased through a vendor / company?

Thanks in advance!

It was a RC paint. Comes in a tiny spray paint bottle. Mine look exactly the same as the photo. I didn't like it and ended up getting it painted my body color.

I would recommend, try plasti dipping it first as a protective layer, then spray paint. That way if it doesn't turn out, you can peel it off.

I'm wondering if you couldn't use that vlc tint spray they sell at parts stores that's made to tint tail lights. It comes out pretty shiny and ever shinier with a coat of clear

Sorry to hijack your thread but how difficult would it be to plasti dip the grill surround? Also, is it necessary to remove the entire grill surround to do this?

Super easy to plast dip the grill. Easy to take out without removing the bumper. The chrome piece separates from everything and is easy to paint. Just make sure its clean and the paint can isn't cold.

you probably don't even need to remove the surround. you can just use blue painter's tape with some newspaper to cover the surrounding area so the plastidip doesn't get on your body&grille. then spray the surround and take off the tape
