Default Hid bulbs

Currently running OEM HID head lights which I believe are 4300k. Do I have to use the same temperature or can I upgrade to maybe 6000 with current ballast?

I believe you can upgrade to any color with stock ballast. It's finding a good pair of bulbs is where it counts. I'd stay away from cheaper ones as they are known to burn out fast.

Phillips Ultinons are the gold standard and nice color temp.

If you're more budget conscious then Garax are the way to go. They come in a number of color temp but can't match the lumens (brightness) of the phillips.

Oh yes and to answer your original question the current ballasts are fine to run with after market bulbs of different temps.

Yes, and that applies not only to no-name bulbs, but also to counterfeit name brand ones. Be aware that when you see well-respected bulbs like the Philips Ultinon being sold for a fraction of the price of what they sell for at an authorized dealer, they are far more likely to be fakes than a bargain.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Few more questions: do we have approved vendors that are recommend and common temp appears to be 6000k. For the DRL are they normally HID if the mains are? Thanks again.

The DRLs are never HID from stock.

If you have a pre -2011 car they are halogen and you would need to add and HID kit to have them HID. Also I'm not sure if that's possible given they are not a full power except when the high beams are in since it's the same bulb used for both.

The 2011 and later cars have the LED strip for the DRLs.

Many clublexus members put HIDs I'm their fog lights though to match the low beams. Something you may want to consider.

There are many vendors. Check the member classified section.
