Default Question about 2010 IS250 FRESH AIR/RECIRC SERVO part number???

Hi all,

I have a 2010 IS250 Base, and I've been having the problem with my fresh air/recirculation servo for a while now. The problem is like this:
Behind the passenger's glove compartment, the servo makes a LOUD clicking sound whenever the AC is on fresh air mode. Goes away on recirculation mode.

I believe the issue can be originated back to a mechanic not following the instructions when he checked the cabin filter, but it's now untraceable so I'm going to paying for the fix. I've researched here and there and found the following parts:

[ 7 ] HVAC / AIR CONDITIONER & HEATER / EVAPORATOR & HEATER COMPONENTS / Servo
Part Number: 8710630430
servo air mix, #1

[ 8 ] HVAC / AIR CONDITIONER & HEATER / EVAPORATOR & HEATER COMPONENTS / Servo
Part Number: 8710630450
servo air mix, #2

I'm not sure which one is for the fresh air/recirculation, can someone please give me some hints or some tips? The dealer is charging me over $1200 for the fix, an authorized mechanics quoted $800 (and they all said that the part is not sold separately, which is not true......)

PS: If anyone also know more info about this issue, please let me know...

Neither of those servos is for the fresh/recirc, those are for vent selection and temperature adjustment.

The part number for the servo you are looking for is 87106-30480 - Servo, Damper (Fresh/Recirc).

That said, it's often not the servo that is damaged, but rather the arm on that airbox, which is in fact not sold separately, though I believe it is included in the heater air damper kit (87020-30020), which is about $35 in the US from what I can recall.

If that doesn't fix you up (kit may not come with what is broken in your case), you'll likely need to replace the entire blower box assembly (87130-30811).

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your tips and quick reply. Is there any way that I can figure out which part is the faulty one? The dealer and mechanics all claim that Lexus don't sell them individual parts now, so that's why the price is so jacked up now......

It also seems to me that this is a very often seen failure on Lexus cars, is that so?

It is somewhat common, though not extremely. It does come up from time to time.

There is a TSB/TSIB (Canada TSB 3173) covering the new repair parts (87020-30020, indicated by PNC 87020A in the parts diagram).

I opened up my glove box and the heater air damper kit (87020-30020) isn't broken. The arms were out of sync and I placed them back together. The circulation/fresh air functions work now, however, it makes a relatively large noise whenever the servo is working to switch mode or to start up. Is it recommended that I switch the servo now?

I believe the arms went out of sync because the tip of the arm on the servo broke, so it is likely that they will go out of sync soon.......
