Default Lifting a 2is... Jack issues?

I will likely install my own coilovers and camber components when I lower my 09 is250 awd in the coming months...

I keep hearing all over the forum about issues on jack stand positioning (bending of metal near the pinch welds etc.)

-unless i misunderstood what i read:

Does anyone have any experience with this?
Do i need to purchase jack pads?
I was planning on lifting up the car with the typical jack in the trunk, and a pair of 3 ton jack stands. But should I be aware of any issues on jack points?

You should buy one. I bent mine the first time i jacked it.

are any other jack stand locations? ive heard of ppl using the crossmembers, differential...?

Was it the jack that bent it or the jack stands?

Save your money and don't waste it on the pads. Just jack up the car high enough and put the support stands on the frame rail. My craftsman 3 ton fits perfectly in the rail. Don't try to jack or put support stands on the rail. It bends. Worked on another is250 and the guy put it on the rails.....it bent,

could you clarify? I dont follow what you mean by stands on the frame rail, but then you said not to put it on the rail? :P

yeah, the pinch welds are a pain. I put my jack on the inside of the pinch weld (i.e. closer to the center of the car) as close to the wheel well as I can get, then once in the air put my jack stands under, again, on the inside of the pinch weld. This has felt really solid to me. I gave up trying to find something to go over the pinch weld.

Sry, frame rails are the ones labeled safety stand points in the pic. That's where you should put the support stands. So tired Idk wth I was typing earlier. Now that Im awake, I meant to say don't put it on the pinch weld

oh i see makes sense.
But for Jacking up the car (raising it) is done at the pinch weld?

place your jack at the garage jack points.

if your just jacking the car up to change a wheel I would jack it at the pinch weld and support it by the frame rail.

if you want to jack up the entire car I would jack from the garage jack points and support it on jack stands at the safety stand points on the diagram above.

+1. If its just one side, use the stock jack. If you are doing something else, use the stock jack to get it high enough so that your hydro jack can reach the point in the center on the frame. Even being lowered slightly, that's how I have to do it if I want to jack up the whole front end.

I may also jack one side at a time to place the jack stands... i.e. scissor jack one side, add stand; scissor jack the other side, add stand
