Default Temperature Problem

Hi to all. I hope this isthe proper like action for this post, if not please be are with me. I recently purchased a 2008 IS250. Car has run great for a few months. I recently loaned the car for a trip of about 900 miles and on literally the last few miles it started steaming from under the hood.

I looked at it this morning and there is a red liquid residue all over the lower engine compartment. There is no oil/gas smell so I assume this is Toyota coolant. The overflow red is full. Oil level checks full. Starting the car and letting it idle for several minutes does not raise the temp readout and the heater blows only cold air. After 10-15 minutes there is no steam or noticeable leakage I can detect, but I obviously can't see everything.

Any ideas?

Water pump...99% positive. Since you're new to these forums you wouldn't know that the water pump is unfortunately a VERY common failure item. Do not drive it any further; tow it to a shop/dealership or DIY ASAP. What you consider "red" is actually the pink Toyota branded long life coolant.
