Someone hit my car the other day while it was parked on the street so now i'm looking to buy myself a dashcam. Been searching the forums and it seems like these aren't being used so much, all i could find was the blackvue (heating issues), the FineVu CR500HD (what i'm leaning towards), and the Lukas 7900 which I dont know too much about.
Was wondering if anyone has heard or use any of these? Been researching online but seems like nothing is great in terms of security while parked or while the car is off? Just lookin for some suggestions, recommendations, or comments/concerns
Oh and I'll be wiring it up to my fuse box if not rearview mirror, would this drain my battery?
I bought mine from ebay from china. I think it is a mini 0802 copy but it has been working for the past 3 months. I paid 40 bucks. It is very good in the day (1080P). It does not do as well at night though probably due to cheap optics.
I did not purchase mine for parking issues but for issues when I am driving and say I roll back because someone is riding the car's rear (my other car is a manual) or if some fraudster who stage crashes.
If you are seeking it for parking issues on the street, it seems you might need a few cameras depending if they hit you from the rear, side(s), or front.

Youre about 2 years behind on the dashcams. The powerucc panorama II has been consistantly the best camera for awhile. Unless youre specifically trying to have a discreet camera you should look into the panorama.
Here's my dash cam. I can't see it when I am driving which is exactly what I wanted.
I ran the wires up into the rear view mirror wiring cover and down to my navi unit where it gets power and video output to the navi screen.
I had to wrap my dash cam in tin foil and electrical tape to stop interference with my GPS antenna. I wanted them both where they are because I can't see them while driving.
I installed Vidometer on my work phone, and I just put it in a small mount on the dash every time I drive. Still have my personal phone for music and GPS.
Cant go wrong with the panorama! Just tap the rear view mirror. Follow the directions on the radar detector hardwire diy thread.
I was actually going to get one of those battery cut-off modules so I can use the parked mode. But since I'll be close to it, maybe I'll wire up a detector too although I use waze quite a bit, seems more useful.
