Question about start system

I am working on a 2008 Lexus Is 250,
When I try and start the car the dash lights flash off. Is this normal?

Hmmmm.....you have to give more details. Does the car even start? Does it keep trying to start and the dash light just goes away? Need more info

Put a volt meter on the battery and watch what happens when you press the start button.
