So I am assuming if I make my car 18x8.5 on the front as well there will not be any problems? I am new to this kind of thing so i appreciate the patience and opinions

Id like to do this to make them 8.5 all around and save me some tire life when rotating =)

with 255 on, mine rubbed when I tried. Offset of 50mm is pretty high with these. Using an 18x8.5 rim with a 40mm offset and a 245 doesn't rub, BUT it is just a little higher than I would like it in the front. Not so high that I'm going to change, though.

 

So im guessing getting the x-package OEM 18x8.5, like the ones in the rear, will rub when placed up front?

 

No, the wheel will fit, but its not just a question of the wheel size. The tire size is equally as important if you want to rotate tires. The stock has 225/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear, in order to rotate your tires you will need the same size front and rear. You can use a 235/40/18 on the front with the rear 18x8.5 wheel, but do you want a 235/40/18 on the rear, I wouldn't. If a 245/40/18 will fit on the front (i think it will rub), then that would be better to have all the way around.

 

+1 on mike33! 255/40 is too thick for front while 235/40 is probably too skinny for rear. 245/40 should be good all around but might rub in front.

The stock staggered set up handles quite well to me. Making it all around with the same size could degrade the handling performance. Lexus engineer this set up for a reason and I think you should leave it as is.

People have said 255/35/18's work up front without rubbing as they are the same height as the 225/40/18's. Not sure with a +50 offset wheel though. That is the OEM rear size for the new models. Might give that a try and I want to do something similar.

 

245/40/18 works fine on the front with 18"X8" X-pac wheels. I have not tried it with the 8.5" rear wheels. I would run them front & rear with the 8" front wheels to lose some weight, the factory wheels are so heavy! I would do this but the shorter tire on the rear will make odometer add miles faster.
