I recently had some work done on my 2010 IS250 AWD, and I had a loaner which was a 2012 IS250 AWD.

I noticed a major difference in "zip" and fun in driving the 2012. It had about 18k miles, and mine has 45k. I use premium fuel and both cars had the ECT POWER light on.

Any advice to get more zip in my 2010? It can't just be the miles, right?

I had a 2014 IS350 AWD loaner from the dealer while I got recalls done. It felt gutless compared to my 2006 IS350. Complete night and day difference in terms of speed, pickup (especially from a stop) and overall fun factor.

Another thing I noticed about the 3IS is that when the windows are down and you're cruising above 80km, the wind pulses through the dinwo really bad. Very annoying and uncomfortable for someone who enjoys having their windows down.

 

Maybe you should reset your ecu and let it relearn to your "new" driving habbit.

I also own a '06 is350 and I love the acceleration compared with my s2000! That makes up
for its less nimble nature around a turn, though.

I've read on the forum that resetting the ECU is not necessary, since the car is always responding to your driving style. Is this true?

Does anyone use (or recommend) a fuel line cleaner or additive?

 

You can't really comapre that. A RWD 2IS vs. an AWD 3IS....aside from the AWD losing more power to the wheels, the 3IS is bigger and heavier.

OP is comparing two 2IS

 

It'd good to reset your ECU once in a while especially if climate change varies alot amongst seasons. I do it every spring (after long cold, Canadian winter), and again before winter.

IMO, I think the loaner just "learned" the driving habits of how people typically drive on a loaner vehicle; HARD.

 

it could be just an easy ECU reset or possibly the infamous carbon build up creeping up on you...

 

rememeber now that the 3IS has 8Speed Transmission where the 2IS has 6. Those extra gears help eliminate dead spots in the RPM band.
