Default Alignment Spec is wrong ?

Hi

I have to replace my front tire due to that ugly inner side wear out issue, like the link discussion below,

Today I got the new Continental Extreme contact DWS and replaced the set of original front tires, it is strange to me i saw the left front tire can not be perfectly aligned and the Firestone technician show me his computer says left front camber can not be adjusted because this is from factory. He told me this is normal to every sport car especially Lexus IS...

is it a factory design for sport car ?
what is the benefit with this ?
If so i would expect the left front tire to be worn out quickly with such specification.

Looks like only ONE thing was touched during the entire alingment...the front driver's side toe. i belive they are correct in saying there is no OE camber adjustment (correct me if I'm wrong here).

But, there is a way to correct that with the following items :

These get pressed into the UCA (upper control arm) where they meet the chassis. If the "bushing" is rotated, it will push out or pull in the UCA, thus adjusting in/out the camber.

But personally, I'd just live with what you have there.

Shop is correct. No adjustments for camber. Only adjustments are for toe. The negative camber that the factory adds increases the handling and the car. Basically the more camber the better the car will corner at the expense of day to day tire ware. Unless you want to dump a few hundred bucks on aftermarket parts you will just have to live with it.

So that means i must live with the quickly exhausted front driver tire? Then i will rotate the two front tires regularly so maximum their lives.

Your driver's side tire won't wear out as quickly now. Toe absolutely destroys tread. Even though the before setting was within factory spec at .10 the reduction to .03 will help with tire wear. Camber doesn't wear your tires near as badly as toe does. Unless you do a-lot of freeway driving in a straight line you probably won't be able to tell that the drivers side is wearing faster than the passenger side, even if you don't rotate them. If you are really worried about tire wear, IMO, the next step would be to add a set of FIGS rear LCA bushings.

Damn, i driving 50 miles freeway in a straight line daily...

I just had to replace the OEM tires at 38000 miles. I've been wondering the same thing about changing the alignment to fix it. So far nothing

^That's actually pretty good; mine were toast at 33k miles.

I'm happy they lasted that long mine were probably going bad earlier I just noticed them at 38K lol. The rears probably still have another 10k in them. Hoping the DWS last a little longer on the front than the old ones did
