Default Help needed! Please! Car battery replacement...

Hi,
I would really appreciate all the help i can get .
I have a 2010 Lexus IS250 and my battery needs to be replaced. It's a CPO that i've had for 7 months. I'm guessing the dealer gave me a bad car battery

I really don't know anything about car batteries so i would appreciate if someone can tell me what battery to buy. I was planning to buy it at Autozone.
And do I really have to take it to the dealer to get it replaced? I'm tryign to avoid that because i heard they charge an arm and a leg!

thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site Lots of Great Information here. Learn to use the search function it will answer many of your questions. Look at this thread. There's a link in it to three more threads. They should answer all your questions about batteries.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...w-battery.html

And, if the car is a CPO, shouldn't the dealer be responsible for the replacement battery?

Lou

Nothing wrong with an AUTOZONE battery. I bought one from O'Reilly's.. still going strong after 2 years. Cranks everytime without hesitation. And I also have an aftermarket amp+sub.

Welcome to CL Chuya. If go back to tell them that it should have been good and that it should be covered by them. Try that first.

Do you rarely drive it? My car battery went bad under the original warranty and they replaced it even though I told them I rarely drove the car. I now use a battery tender like ctek which not only keep the car charged but can revive battery health.

If the dealer does not cover it, take it to any autoparts store or even costco for a battery.

OEM battery should last longer than 4 years...

To answer the question, shouldn't the CPO warranty cover this? Well, this is pulled from the Lexus CPO website :

"The following components are specifically excluded from coverage under the Lexus Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty:

Standard Upkeep Items:
accessory drive belts, batteries, filters, fluids, heating and vacuum hoses, lines and tubes, tires, spark plugs, windshield wiper blades (rubber component)."

To me, batteries are one of those components on a car that I don't mind going aftermarket and saving money at purchasing in the process. Battery technologies really haven't change much over the years, but the warranties on some have. If you intend on having the car for a while, then might as well go with a 5/6/7yr batter with a great replacement and prorated warranty on it. AutoZone/Advance Auto/O'Reillys/Napa/Car Quest/etc etc all offer such batteries.

If you do go to AutoZone, which I have nothing againist them, have them install the battery; that way you can ensure the battery is installed correctly (no crossing of battery terminals or such stupidness) AND that the proper "group" of battery is installed.

GL!
