Does anyone know what this plate is? Its Right behind front tire. It looks bent, more bent then the one on drivers side.

That's a floor pan; someone probably used it as a jacking point in the past. Either that or it ran over something.

If you want, you can take a plastic mallet to the floor boards from inside the cabin to pound it back down.

For future reference. If they let it drain for a while they may have had to put in let's say 7.1 QTS.

In that case they charge you for 8 QTS. Sorry that's the way it works. If the product gets opened you get charged for it. If it bothers you that much you can buy your own oil and bring it into a shop and tell them to use that

This makes no logical sense. The car only holds 6.7 qts. Why would they ever have to put in 7.1 qts; draining it longer will not get out more oil than the car should hold

Thanks I understand that, but that was not my point. I measured and clearly they did put in too much oil. I was just wondering how bad that is. Based on what others have said I have decided to fix it.

I think he used 7.1 quarts as an example. (I hope)

It has been a while since I looked at our dipstick... but I imagine it is like most cars about 5-6 cm long for 1 Qt; therefore, 1 Cm is about 15-20% of a quart overfilled.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it... I don't think it will be enough to cause any type of aeration. In fact, it may be useful if you drive your car hard or using a thicker viscosity oil.

Well maybe you should check your dipstick, cause that is not right. Its about 1 cm to first line and 3 more to the second fill line. I'm guessing I'm about half to whole qt over

^^This.

I change my own oil while at work, I sometimes end up leaving the car to drain for hours. 6.7qts is what the vehicle requires for a drain and fill. That is what Lexus Express techs will put in. I find myself usually using right at 7 qts. No its not over filled. It is directly on the full mark.

As far as OP being charged for 8 qts, I am not sure what happened there. I was merely suggesting a scenario. Maybe they spilled a quart and charged him for another one. Who knows.

go back to the shop ASAP, they'll drain out the extra. a few miles wont hurt, but definitely don't leave it be.

You're right, I don't need to check my dipstick though... I need to go take a look at a ruler again though. I had the image of what the spatial length of it was, just not what a centimeter is.

With that being said, I am with everyone else and get some of it removed. Personally, I wouldn't have an issue if I was .25 - .33 of a quart over, but you are too much for me be to comfortable with it.

- Side note, I would be interested in seeing how much oil our cars hold out of the sump after some driving.... I.E. drive for 15 minutes and see how low the oil level is right away.
