Ok here is my dilemma..........I have a 2006 IS350 and the driver side headlight will turn off while driving and when I switch them off and then back on it'll come back on, but then it'll go off again after a while. Its been doing this for a while now and was wondering if replacing the bulb will fix the problem. The problem happens both on high and low beams and also if I have the headlight switch on the auto or on position. Has anybody experienced this before and if so, how did you fix the problem. Another question is.........how will I know if I have regular bulbs or HID's on my Lexi? Is it hard to replace the bulbs on them?
I would first attempt to swap your passenger bulb to the driver side and vice versa to diagnose if it's a bulb issue. Halogen or HID is the same process.
^Agreed! If the symptoms follow the bulb, then replace the bulb. But judging by what you posted and previous threads on the matter, most ended up being a faulty ballast. <---This being if you have HIDs.
Easiest way to know if you have HIDs on an '06 is that you also have AFS. If, with the car on, and stationary, you scroll left or right on the button that looks like this: [<O>] to the left of the steering wheel, AFS On/Off will be an option if you have HIDs; but not if you don't.
You say it happens on high and low beams. If you have HIDs, then your high beams are both the HIDs, but also the DRL bulb. If both of these are out, I don't see how your issue is just a bad bulb or ballast.

Thanks...I'll check on that and keep u guys posted
I swapped the bulbs around and YESS it was the bulb. Called dealer and they want $160 per bulb and since I wanna replace both ...too much money for a freakin bulb. I purchased a PAIR of bulbs from ebay for $40. I read all the reviews on them and seem good.........HOPE they work and last
I had the same problem happening to me. I had a set of Garax bulbs laying around so I threw those in to see if it fixed the problem and so far so good.
