hey guy so i just got a 2007 lexus is350 and the shifting feels a little weird to me. mostly when going from stop sign to stop sign so at low speeds it shifts a little wierd. like ill accelerate from a stop (not too hard) and it seems like the car lurches forward a little , not sure if its from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd gear. not really sure how to explain but if i mash on the gas hard it shifts just fine, but if i wanna take it kinda slow the shifting seems wierd like itll launch you forward after a couple seconds very slighly? man i hope i didnt buy a lemon.

 

Lemon is a term for new cars. Unplug the battery and if it does not shift smoother then it might be an issue. The previous owner might have driven the car hard.

 

Already reset the ecu yesturday by unplugging the battery, it helped slightly but I still feel it there, crap man I might take it to Lexus dealer tomorow and ask them to test drive... Wow I have the worst luck ever

 

It's pretty normal. Aggressive gear ratios causes our lower gears to be more jumpy. If you find yourself in a constant stop and go situation, put the car is snow mode and it'll be baby smooth.

 

Omg thank God, I just drove with snow mode and problem goes away, shifts smooth as butter, is there any negative to driving in snow mode in traffic or when alot of stop signs?

 

Yeah, I have a 2011 for a month now and I noticed the aggressive gear changes, You get use to it after a while. I would say it's totally normal. Stick it in ECT power, you'll crap your pants.

 

My hunting rig is S/C with a upgraded valve body - it shifts HARD (can bark the 35's into 2nd) hrough 1st/2nd/3rd. Not even close to as soft as the IS350 lol.
But I did notice with the IS350, it hangs on to gears longer after first starting it up.
I don't know if it's to warm up the Trans/Engine - but when it hangs on to gears longer, it does give a small jerk that is odd when the Trans shifts.
After 10 minutes or so, it doesn't hang onto gears as long and shifts smoother.

 

I'd say that over time the shifting smooths out after the car has learned your driving style.

 

Yea just gotta get use to it for now, like stated, when in snow mode it is smooth like butter, do any of you know if there's any negative with driving in snow mode, more gas burned anything like that?

 

normal brother 350 had big first gear ratio, thats how it manages to be quicker

 

You don't want to drive in snow mode. If I'm not mistaken it starts in 2nd gear and won't let you rev much over 2k. The hard shifts are totally normal especially when the car is cold. It's a sports car. It's going to shift harder than a Prius...

 

Lol, if you let me drive your car, I'll let you know if it's normal haha. But there's nothing wrong with driving it in snow mode, all it does is let you start in 2nd gear instead of 1st so you get better grip and less wheel spin in snow. The IS350 just shifts harder IMO. My IS350 was my first car. I practiced driving in a Civic and after getting the IS350, I noticed the shifts were much harder and noticeable than the Civic.

 

lol yea come by for a drive you have a black is350, are your wheels brownish goldish color? theres another 350 around my house thats black and has brownish gold rims...

 

Lol, I think I know who you're talking about. I seen him once at my school. This is a picture I took of my IS last summer.

 

Wow that black IS is clean and sick looking. Is that the Tom's kit with quad exhausts? Where do you get that exhaust? How much is the whole kit + exhaust + paint and installation?
