The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club.

HID lights will have a sharp cutoff line in the light if you shine it onto a wall, and the light will be bluish/white. Also when you first turn them on they will be a little more blue, and will slowly warm up to the actual color.

Also the HID's will have a ballast connected to them to create the power needed to run them. I am able to hear them if I'm outside the car when the lights are first turned on (with the motor off). It sounds kind of like an old CRT TV or computer monitor (A high pitched whine) when they are first turned on. But I'm an old dude and know what those sound like because I grew up before there were even remote controls for those old monster TV's (I was the remote when dad needed the volume or channel changed)

The bulbs will look different as well. The Halogen creates light by heating the filament inside of it until it glows. The tighter the wind of the filament, and the type of metal used in it determines the color and intensity of the light produced. HID bulbs will not have a filament inside. There will be two metal prongs inside of the glass capsule filled with a gas (usually Xenon) and the ballast ramps up the power to produce enough power to arc the electricity across the two prongs. Kind of like the way a arc welder works. Creates a very bright light.

If you Google HID vs Halogen and look at the images, you can also see the difference there.

just turn your lights on..............

if they are yellowish, you have halogen. if they are white, you have HID
