Default Scratch

I unfortunately found a long, thin, white scratch along the driver's side bumper (by the wheel). It isn't too noticeable, but my car is sapphire so if you get close it can be seen. Maybe because I know it's there it seems more noticeable. What do I do? Will Lexus buff it out? I am taking my car in Monday for service, so will they buff it out for me? Your thoughts please!

if you can feel the scratch chances are you can't buff that out. you can try to use touch up paint on it or buy a new bumper/repaint

My advice is never let Lexus touch your paint. Do not even let them wash the car when you bring it in. Their guys cause more harm than good the vast majority of the time.

Take it to a reputable detailer to see if they feel confident in removing the scratch. If you want me to recommend someone in your area, just let me know what city you're in.

ISguy20-Agreed that if you can feel it, that it's probably not something they can just buff out with a polisher.

Windaica I've used touch up paint for rock chips. My 250 is Glacier Frost Mica and I thought there was no way the touch up pens from the dealership would look normal due to the tinted topcoat but I was pretty impressed with how well it matched. Might be worth trying.

Does your fingernail catch in it? If not, try a scratch remover product first like Scratch Out or Scratch Doctor. Worth $8/9 to give it a try. You would be surprised at what they can get out and how thick your paint is.

Well....this isn't good......I can feel the scratch. I don't think that this was a rock that did this. I am guessing someone might of scratched something against it? Luckily, it isn't THAT bad, but as a car owner everything seems worse than it is.

Mine has the same, very small minor rock chips, but i want them fixed. I went to an auto paint shop today, and they said they could touch it up for 30 bucks (which i could just do myself, but will not look very professional, or the only other option would be to repaint the whole hood, $275... I think I will try to do it myself.

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Unfortunately, scratches are inevitable, but we can fix them!

Default About that Scratch Again

So that scratch I got on my 07 IS 250....I said that it felt deep....BUT I had salt on my car from driving in the snow, so when I ran my finger over it, it felt deeper than it really was. The salt made it feel rough. I wiped off the salt with some water and the scratch isn't as deep as I thought. So tell me, does Lexus buff out scratches? It is on the surface, so they can buff it out. I am going in for service Monday, so can I ask them to do that when I get there? How much do they charge to do a buff out? I know it isn't noticeable, but it feels like an eye sore to me.....so I need it off!

Not sure how much Lexus will charge but it might be expensive.

Better luck going to a local body shop for cheaper rates.

Dont have Lexus work on your paint you are better off taking it to a detail shop to have the scratches buffed out. When someone knows what they are doing it makes a big difference when it comes to paint. As for rock chips you can get touch up paint from Lexus for about 15 bucks.
