Default Got into an accident help!

Hello guys!
I drove a 2009 is350 and recently I was rear ended by another car. My rear bumper has been shatter and must be replaced and my trunk has a lot of scratches and might need to be repainted. I am meeting up with the estimators tommorow and they will write me a cheak for the damage. So my question is, how much should the estimators write down for me on the cheak?
Thanks guys!

you can check out Sewell lexus parts for an idea of how much a bumper will cost. As far as your trunk goes im guess around $400 to be repainted. Thats a quote I got for a front bumper repaint. It cant be to far off

My bumper I think was between 1300-1500 replaced when I got rear ended few months back. There's like an impact zone bar and stuff behind the bumper so it's possible the cost goes up from there once the bumper is taken off and the damage is fully assessed. I was told at first glance 1100, but they could go as high as 2-4k depending on what was found. I got lucky, bumper only.

Not sure on repaint cost for the trunk but 400 sounds about right.

You really should take it to a body shop and let them deal with the adjuster that way your covered no matter what. Adjusters love it when people who don't have any auto body knowledge meet with them. Once they cut the check and you find out theres more damage then what was paid for the chase is on !! Good Luck!!

Ps... Go to a body shop!!

The bumper cover will need to be removed to inspect for damages under it. This is all dependant on how hard the hit was really though. A minor fender-bender with only be cosmetic, while anything more than a minor hit could cause damages to the crash bar and damage to the crumple zones.

Post pics next time!

GL!

got a check for 1600 bucks.. I called Lexus collision this morning and they said it will cost around 1200+ to install and purchase a new bumper (labor included I think). Also my trunk has major chip marks after the dmg and the plastic lining in the trunk needs to be replaced. I am going to the Lexus collision center tommorow to get a better estimate and once I do, I am going to call the adjuster to write me another cheak cause 1600 to repaint the trunk, bumper, and other hidden damages seems kind of low. Thanks guys! I will keep you guys updated but more feedbacks are welcome!

Don't cash that first check unless you have it in writing that they will pay for additional damage found later. With out having it in writing you will be considered payed in full if you cash the first check.

It is always a good idea to take the car to the shop you will take it for repair and get an estimate. If you have already received a check, take the insurance estimate with you and show it to the shop.

No surprise, but insurance will try to settle the claim as cheaply as possible using aftermarket parts, etc. so the chance of coming out of the deal with a few bucks in your pocket is pretty low in my experience. More likely, the shop will need to be your advocate and detail any additional damage to the insurance company's adjuster not identified in the original estimate before insurance will pay out additional money.

Good luck.
