I'm gonna add my sad story to the list. This is *exactly* what my 06' Nav has been doing (or, was doing... it's just black and unresponsive now). At first it would reboot randomly, throw the whitish screens - I even saw the "consumption" screen a handful of times. My guess was some sort of power issue, but I haven't found it yet. I'm going to keep putzing, but it looks like CL or eBay is gonna be where I head next At least my radio can turn to Aux. AC is stuck on full, and none of the buttons around the screen light up or work. Clock / NavDVD still work, DVD still spins. Radio works, so it's isolated to the top components. Sigh.

Well, I did harness tests and took the whole unit apart and did a lot of testing - unit is getting power, 14v to everything that needs it, so I think I'm getting closer to looking for a repair service. A junkyard quoted me $900 for one from an 07', so I'm gonna go ahead and try the less expensive routes first :-/

Default Navigation System in LS460 2009 just stopped working

My Nav system just stopped working and will not display at all but, everything else works - climate, sound, info, etc. The dealership quoted $1,500+ to fix.
Any ideas to avoid that and get it working again? or how can I get one of the other screens to be the base image?
Thanks,Brad

^I'd try replacing the actual screen first to see if that works. <$100...worth a shot!

You have a busted digitizer, so don't waste your time/money at the dealership, they'll just try to fleece your bank account. What you need to do is purchase a new digitizer from a reputable seller on ebay (read his reviews) and then follow the numerous DIY videos/articles on this issue. I replaced mine recently and it cost me about $50 and several hours of my saturday afternoon.

Update on my unit - sent it to Hi-Tech Services in CA to be fixed. I read some reviews and such but it was still kind of a leap of faith, but I just got it back and it works like a champ. It cost $650 and the invoice said "repaired the main PC board", but that was the only description. They had quoted $450-$650 when I emailed them, so big surprise it was the highest they quoted :-/ I re-installed it in the car, but maybe at some later point I'll take it apart again to see if I can figure out exactly what they did - if they replaced something or not (I put marker dots on every piece and component inside of it, and took lots and lots of close up pictures). Anyways, $650 for repair < $900 for used unit < $1,000,000 or whatever Lexus charges to replace the nav unit. Turnaround was super quick - they received it on a Friday afternoon, they're closed on weekends, and I got it back the next Wednesday mid-day.

TL;DR Hi-Tech Services repaired my nav for $650 by "repairing main PC board". They've got my thumbs up for service if the whole unit is dead (no screen, no climate, no nuthin').

^Smart thinking on marking everything before they got their hands on it! Very curious to see what exactly was replaced, if not the entire board.

I'm curious too find out too, but... I was also not in a rush to take apart something that works now that didn't before I'll get around to it, but it's hotter than hell in AZ so I'll wait until AC isn't a necessity.

Ugh, mine crapped out and seems similar to what is posted in this thread. First it started as the screen going haywire, then it showed me some power flow diagram (somehow I temporarily had a 350H), then it just died. At first the AC was on MAX and the only functioning item was the radio. After 2 weeks, the HVAC stopped working entirely. I tried replacing the digitizer as well as checking the ribbon cable, all are good.

I have mixed emotions on this issue. The car is an '06 with 112k miles on it. If the HVAC system wasn't directly tied to the NAV unit I'd just leave it be, but that's not practical for obvious reasons. It just seems kinda crazy to put $1000+ into the nav system on a car that's worth less than $10k. Looks like I have to bite the bullet and seek some repair work!

^Yep, sounds like what happened to mine. Either source a good, used item or have it fixed by one of those repairers online.

Good luck!
