Wanted to take a few minutes to introduce my self here on the forum. Been lingering for months and finally pulled the trigger last night on a 2006 is350 in red! Purchased as second car, also have a BMW e92 Coupe (335). Car is loaded, nav, xenon, PDC front and rear, power tilt wheel, etc.

A few friends had is250's however have all moved on so figured the best place to ask a few questions would be here.

1- I have been reading that there are a few different nag versions between the 2006-2013 IS Just like any car. What would I need to do to be able to upgrade to the newer style nav 2010+ (correct me if I'm wrong). Buttons that are flush, menus are light blue, etc, able to play blue tooth music, A2DP..

2. Steering wheel is peeling, not horrible but bothers me. Hard to replace? Have the power tilt if it makes a difference.

3. Steering wheel feels kind of loose compared to is250 AWD which is what I've driven a few times. Is that because its a 350 and FWD?

PS. Im sure same goes here for SEARCH tool is a "friend" but I'm new give me a break

Yes search is your friend

As for your 2006 needed upgrades to get it looking like a 2011+... Its not going to be cheap. The nav will run you a hefty sum, I believe you would need a entire new center dash unit as its a hard drive based system VS your DVD nav. My guess without looking is about 4k.

To upgrade the headlights it will run you 2k.

Welcome to CL!

Steering may be improved with the steering wheel damper. They are only about $30 and you can easily install ( Sewell Lexus is a sponsor and they will give you a discount if you use your CL log in).

BTW your IS350 is RWD, not FWD.

Enjoy your Lexus!

1) Persoanlly, I perfer the look of the older NAV unit's screens; the new ones looks too "video game'ish" to me.
2) Easy; power tilt function doesn't make it any different.
3) I would expect the "feel" of the steering wheel to be naturally heavier due to it being AWD. Plus it's a known fact that the 2IS models have a lack of steering feel (especially since you have a BMW too, you'll notice this quite easily). One thing we have figured out though that you can upgrade to a different steering ECU to help with that.

WELCOME!

Also don't forget if you still have the non updated 2006 nav you can unlock functions so you can use it while you're driving.
