Default Has Anyone else had this problem with their AC?

The climate control in my 2006 IS250 has been acting up lately. When it works, it blows Ice cold air. But sometimes it seems as though the compressor kicks out and it starts blowing warmer air. If i Gas on the motor by revving it up or hit passing gear if I am driving, it will start blowing cold air again. Sometimes it will work fine all day, other times it kicks out every ten minutes or so. No real pattern. Any ideas?? Low on Freon? A switch or relay gone bad? Bad Compressor? Where do I start????

That may be the issue or a leak somewhere... I had that issue on my charger doing the same symptons and it was a valve that had to be replace because it was slowly leaking coolant

The valve you speak of is the expansion valve.

To the OP, I would take the car to an A/C mechanic and have him look at the system as it can be many things that could cause the issue.

1. Bad high/low switch
2. expansion valve could be sticking
3. clutch on the compresor or compresor itself might be going bad.
4. the one I hate the most (a bad o-ring somewhere in the system)

The funny thing is, this has also has happened in the winter time with the heater. You will have the climate control set to 80 degrees and it will suddenly start blowing cool air. Same deal, if you step on the accelerator, it straightens out. Would the cause still possibly be bad valve or compressor?

no youre not the only one, my car has done this too recently. its not frequent at all and very random. but sometimes when the AC is nice and cold, randomly sometimes its like there is a good 10-15 seconds where its not cold at all, then its back to normal again.

i wasnt ever sure if it was something like with the subaru and when you are over a certain amount of throttle, the AC compressor would kick off so you had peak power. or if it was just something extremely random

Ok, After doing some more experimenting, the AC and the Heater are now working fine as long as you use the Manual control and not the Automatic climate control button. Would this be a bad Switch on the automatic button, or something deeper?
