Default coolant, please help

so i just inspected my coolant, and from the main radiator cap that sits beneath the engine cover, there is a small hose coming down to the plastic reservoir bottle, this bottle then has another pipe going out of it which doesnt seem to be connected to anything. there is no sign of any coolant leaks there so doesnt seem like coolant is coming out of the open ended pipe, can anyone confirm if this is normal?

also, i noticed that the lid on the reservoir bottle doesnt even close tight or seal on, it just sits loosely on top, doesnt seem to have anything to tighten onto.

that's overflow pipe. Nothing to worry about it. Just think about this: what happen if you over fill your coolant and there is no overflow pipe
