Default IS250 experiences

So I've had the car for almost two months now and I can't believe how unchanged my feelings are towards it. I tried the exhausts and that didn't help. Sounds alright but when a Evo or even a Civic Si pulls up I'm scared to rev because I know I'm gonna get smoked. Around the corners it's alright, but lack of open diff makes the car as much fun as a, well, a toaster. I tried to throw the back around and did, but there's virtually no way to control the tail slide unless the road is wet (should I say no way to do burnouts or any fun launches if the road is not wet). Top speed is fine, almost got it to 120 once, but there's no stability at all. I felt like I was going to bounce off the express way. I don't need any stupid replies like "get a 350" or something similar. So ultimately, I figured, this is a show car and not a fun car?

Hey you should get a IS350. I'm kidding lol its a practical beautiful car that you can fit many different wheels on. IS350 wheels are limited because of the front 4pot calipers. But if you want it to be more fun you can always boost it

If you wanted a fast and fun car, you've bought the wrong car. I will openly admit I miss my WRX, but the one thing that the IS250 does beat those fast cars in is the comfort.

maybe it's a good thing you're "stuck" w/ the IS250 for another two years. God knows what might happen if you drove anything faster/more powerful.

Ideally that's what the car was made for, yet if that means sacrificing the element of fun COMPLETELY then I'd rather have seats made of wood.

You're wanting to rev your car against a Honda Civic? If you want your car to seriously sound rowdy, it's very possible. My IS350 wakes up the neighborhood in the AM and my boyfriend's car, while it is a boosted IS250, makes a beautiful, deep sound. Not everything is about speed... that is an unattainable goal -- there is always someone faster and who has more money than you.

Around the corners it's alright, but lack of open diff makes the car as much fun as a, well, a toaster. If you really want the car to have more fun, have you considered any sort of suspension mods? Coilovers, bushings, sway bars, or, perhaps, even an LSD (ATS or OS GIken)? If you want this car to be something different, you're going to have to BUILD the car. This is also why you feel like you're going to "bounce off the express way"... Lexus didn't make this car to be driving at 120!

To conclude: Dude, it looks like you need to just sell the car and move on to something else. The entire time you've been here on CL, I've seen your posts mostly consist of complaining about how much you hate your car. It looks like you're sitting here trying to make the car into something it isn't, when really you seem to have bought the car without doing your homework. You bought an IS250 -- Lexus didn't make this car to be their pinnacle of fun. Stop trying to make it drift around corners and be the fastest car on the road. They made it as an ENTRY level luxury sedan.

Wish I could, its a lease, so now I need help on how to make it quicker or more fun or at least better looking (although it is a very nice car) without regretting spending money on it.

If you dislike the car so much return the lease early and get a new car. If you're willing to spend money to make it more fun then just lose some money then you might as well return the car, I'm sure the dealership will work something out with you assuming that you won't be getting a very good deal even if you choose to lease/buy a different car from them.

^So let me get this straight -- you leased a car that isn't fast enough, isn't fun enough, and isn't good looking enough for you?

I am so confused as to why someone would do this. And I wouldn't put money into a lease especially since it seems like you're going to regret spending money on it regardless, so I wouldn't even bother. That's just my honest opinion, man. Do as ISmak said and just return the car.

It seems like you have a few options:
1. Go back to a Lexus dealer and attempt to trade it in for a different car - negative is you are going to take a hefty financial hit
2. Attempt to sell it on a site such as leasetrader - negatives would be that you will be giving up your down payment and will probably also need to include a $2k+ incentive to the new owner to get them to continue your lease
3. Spend $4k - $5k on shocks, springs, sways, intake and exhaust which will make the car handle and sound a lot better - negatives are the car wont be much faster and still wont look any better.

get a new car. Driving around in luxury and comfort is fun for me. Driving a Black car that is always clean is fun for me. Not breaking down all the time is fun for me. Its your mistake you bought a car that doesn't meet your needs/wants or expectations. Why would you like to rev you engine and pick on cars that are possibly slower or have a quieter exhaust?

Do you even know you can test drive cars before you can buy them? Well you can.

You are probably driving on roads that you use on your daily commute. Take your car somewhere different. You can have fun with your car without other cars around you. Try taking it to a track.

OR try this. (When my car was stock 1 month after buying it.)

Hmmm. I like option 3 better. If I'm gonna spend money this is then the best way around. (So far your answer is the most helpful while others apparently didn't read the main post, so useless). I'm thinking about actually lowering the car and putting some linea corse 818s on. Maybe change the axleback to make it look meaner. What do you think?

I like the Linea Corse 818 s, especially in black. I would recommend getting suggestions on the shock and springs so that the setup you buy is not too stiff for everyday driving. For the exhaust, I am planning to upgrade my exhaust to an f sporti in the next few months. Once again, probably good to try and hear one before you are stuck with it in case it is too loud for your taste. Good luck.
