Default Trunk issue

I think there's something wrong with the trunk on my 2006 IS 250. It pops open, stays open and closes fine but it's very difficult to lift (it takes 2 hands). Does anyone know what might be causing this issue? Could it be the trunk struts?

There aren't any struts, just torsion bar/springs. If you added a spoiler, they need adjusting to compensate for the new weight.

Even without the spoiler, my trunk was just pop open like he said, I really want it to be open up all the way... But seems to be impossible...

The IS uses struts, not torsion bars/springs.

did you buy the car used? Maybe the previous owner put some deadner on the trunk for audio purposes..

My trunk is alot heavier now that I deadened it..

Try knocking on it and seeing if it sounds pretty solid, or take the carpet off and see.

I'd have to agree with this. The initial pull up on the trunk itself takes a little force, but once lifting it's quite easy. I believe the trunk is aluminum, like the hood. So the two struts are definitely adequate.

My trunk also required a lot of effort to open. So much that my grandmother can barely open it. Something is amiss.

Make sure that your trunk liner isn't misaligned and rubbing the "hinges" for the trunk that go into the two slots in the upper left and right corners. I can tell you from installing numerous sub boxes that if it is off even a little, it will cause the liner to rub and it will be harder to open/close.

As for the deadening, it should be pretty easy to tell. Just tap on a door or a quarter panel with your finger. If you tap on the trunk lid and it sounds "solid". It's probably been Dynamated. Mine is probably ten to fifteen pounds heavier because I did mine. When I shut mine, I just hold it about three inches from closed and let it drop.......
