Hey guys,

As the title says, I am trying to find a DIY for replacing the a/f sensor. I got an engine light code P0031, which is bank 1 sensor 1, the A/F sensor. I did a multiple google searches and forum searches and didn't see any diy for the 2is.

I know you have to remove the battery, and perhaps the computer underneath to get to the sensor? I am unsure of the entire process, so i was just seeing if anybody could help me out or point me in teh direction of a DIY that I could follow.

to be honest I don't think i have seen any threads for that...but keep checking the search sections

BANK 1 - 1,2,3 (4,) Cyl
BANK 2 - (4),5,6, 7,8,
If engine is straight six (first bank 1,2,3 cyl, second bank 4,5,6cyl. of belts). If its v6 or V8 engine - first bank = passenger side, 2bank - driver side, if engyne its along the car, if engine its across of car, 1 bank its glass side, second - radiator side. First af sensor of banks - its before cat. confverter, second - after cat converter. I recommend replace both a/f sensors, because a resource of A/F sensors its 120000-180000 (160000) km. After this km sensors will perhaps wrong parameters, and main engine ECU - wrong calculate a air fuel ratio. Replacement procedure its simplify. Just disconect 4 wires socket, and unscrew sensors, clean a thread, and screw new sensor. Exhaust system must be in good condition, there is no hole in the front of the sensors, because sensor catch air, and will work wrong. After replacment procedure - check exhaust system (for gas leaks in sensors zone). No adaptation needed. Only take correct sensors (characteristic).

Find yourself one of these O2 sockets; hopefully there's enough room to fit one of these in there to remove the faulty sensor.



Might be easiest to access the sensor from underneath too.
