Default HID Information for a 2006 is250

Hello,

Im trying to narrow down what HID Kit i need to get, but there are a few things i was wondering before i continue my search for the right one. I am debating either 6000k or 8000k, is 8000k too blue, or does it keep the car "classy" looking?

Also, I am COMPLETELY LOST on what bulb type to get. There are H1's, H3's, H4's, 9004's, 9006's, ect... can someone provide some form of explanation on this? how are they different, and will they all fit my vehicle?

Wattage is another thing, should i go ahead and get the 55 watt instead of 35 watt as a rule of thumb?

FYI: I have a 2006 is250 with stock halogen bulbs in all of my exterior lighting.

thank you!!!

check kbcarstuff.com to find exactly what size bulb you need for which light

But for the record, you probably have H11 for low beam, and 9006 for fogs (at least that's what I have on my 09, and I think internally it's exactly the same between 06-08 and 09-10)

Stock xenon would be 4500K in colour. Depending on bulb, your 4500K HID may seem white with tint of yellow or just white. 6000K may seem pure white or white with tint of blue. Some low quality bulbs may even turn out "greenish". 8000K is pretty blue, think twice before going for that as some cops may pull you over for that on a slow night.

35W is more than enough...HID are already really bright, and 55W will just make people in front of you hate you

I have Volt kit from Steve @ XenonDepot. Had it for over half a year, and so far so good.

instead of relying on guesswork, check sylvania's lamp replacement guide for the 2006 ISx50:

https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/appli...l=1194&make=54

as far as the color temperature of the OEM HID, it's 4100K, not 4500K.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/5693437-post14.html

OEM (4100K) has the most light output, but its color-less (read: no hint of blue).

6000K is a good color temperature for both light color and light output. it doesn't have as heavy of a blue tint as 8000K, but it's not as bright as OEM.

8000K has a heavier blue tint, but has the least light output of the three.

any higher color temperature, and you'll lose more light output such that you'll make the low beams nice and colorful but absolutely useless with the decreasing amount of light output.

go w/ the 35w kit so as to reduce the load on the HID system. 55w kits will not only place a heavier load on the electrical system, you may end up damaging the lighting system that is not rated to support a 55w kit.

I wasn't guessing. I know that's what's on a 09. I'm not going to research on an 06 model if that's not what I have. It's a forum where people share their PERSONAL ideas and give advice on what they know. Not to mention I showed OP a website where he can check for exact.

Oh and also I wasn't saying OEM is 4500K, I was referring to a comparison to 4500K HID which is why I wrote in the next sentence Depending on bulb, your 4500K HID may seem white with tint of yellow or just white

glad you're here sharing personal ideas and giving advice. want a cookie for contributing to the community?

but if you're going to do that, at least make sure what you're posting is factual vs. probable (read: guesswork).

it's just semantics, but keep contributing.

Find xenondepot on here and he will set u up. I bought my hid kit from them along with my high beams and the drl.

Went with 4500k which is white with no hint of blue. As for the 55/35 watt dilemma I would advise you stick to 35 due to heat issues with the 55. In my opinion the light output is not that noticeable between the 35 & the 55 watt kit.

OP how are you completely lost? Youve posted multiple HID threads already, some in which Ive provided you answers

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...onversion.html

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...s-or-hids.html

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...t-upgrade.html

You need a H11 HID kit for your headlights and a 9006 HID kit for your fogs.

6K is the best compromise between color and light output IMO.

Dont mess with 55W kits, they have been known to cause issues

Like others, 6000k is the best mix of both vision and color. My car came stock with 8000k and I don't care enough to change to 6000k, but I definitely can't see as well compared to some other cars I've had with OEM HID intensity.

thanks everyone. bob, yes a few of my questions were answered in my previous posts, but a few were not. as I will be buying the kits soon, I was wanting to make sure I had all my bases covered before making a purchase.

I have heard xenondepot is the way to go, and I have been talking with someone from there already. I was wondering if there were cheaper options that I could go with that are reliable. i see xenondepots cheapest kit is 114, where other brands (probably lower quality), are priced at 50. My neighbor bought some realtively inexpensive kits 6000k and it looks good on his car.

thanks!

There are less expensive kits out there, but you get what you pay for. I have Xenondepot kits and they are great products.

You get what you pay for with HID kits. You can some cheap on EBay, but they have EBay quality.
