Before I potentially do something I may regret, does anyone know if it's possible to remove the chrome shiftgate in the center console, once the center console is removed? My chrome trim is annoyingly peeling away in a couple of areas and of course you can't just buy that piece...you have to buy the whole piece from Sewell or a dealer for $2,100.

I can get used ones for much cheaper at a salvage yard or Ebay, but before I spend any kind of money, I'm just curious to know if that piece can be easily replaced if find a replacement. And if the answer is yes and someone has pictures or a description on how to remove it, I would appreciate it.
