I just hit 5k miles and I'm using mobile 1 synthetic oil 10w-30

How often do you guys change your oil. I've read people change theirs at like 7.5/10k.
Should I just change the oil now?

I change mine every 10-12.5k and I use 5w-30.

Since your car just hit 5k, you get a free first oil change at the dealer.

Lol I have 95k miles. I meant to say I hit 5k after my last oil change

If your using synthetic oil, you can change your oil every 5-10k miles. Some people even do more. Personally, I just switched to synthetic and will be changing my oil in between 7.5-10k intervals

I guess it depends on how aggressively you drive and whether you do a lot of stop-go city driving versus highway. The majority of my miles are on the highway, so even at 12.5k, the used oil comes out pretty clean.

Change your oil filter in between oil changes and you could go as far as 15k miles. I changed my filter at 8k miles and sent a sample into blackstone for testing. Report came back that is was perfectly fine for easily another 2k miles. I'll probably change it our around 12k miles and send that in for another sample.

I change mine out at about 7500 miles using Mobil 1 5W30. You can go 10K+ miles, but its recommend you change the filter at 7500 miles. I get a deal on the oil change labor and keep a good relationship with my Service Advisor so I just have the full oil change done at 7500 miles instead of just doing the filter. Maybe when my CPO warranty is done i'll keep running the oil longer.

Also, why are you using 10w30 instead of the recommended 5w30? Just wondering

I put amsoil 5w30 in so i wont worry about that for a year

After 8k miles? I think that's pretty obvious. It was black.

I use 5w30 and changed at 5k so far, planning for 7k next. If you don't drive much, rule of thumb is to change the oil at least once a year, usually in spring.
