Wow, I always thought our IS would do well on crash test. Safety was another reason I considered a european luxury, but it doesnt beat our IS reliability!

from that video the IS gave 3rd class type performance.so sad ..why cant they spent more time in safety like volvo too. They do have great style, comfort, good enough performance, .why not focus on safety ALL around ( like Volvo for example) i think its the idea when you think of certain car companies some things pop right up and safety aint one of them for Lexus. and i think it will stay like that.

Oh my God !!! That's bad . A big negative for Lexus.

One thing you can learn from this video though is don't crash your car partially from the front side. Go straight full head on. I think that will protect us better.

I think when they did crash test before for our cars, it wasn't this bad, so it means older IS models are more stronger than 2012?

2006-2008 year models.

From the link:

"The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has unveiled a new crash testing methodology in dramatic fashion"

"Most automakers design their vehicles to ace our moderate overlap frontal test and NHTSA's full-width frontal test, ..."

Testing method has changed, and they know that most cars on the market won't fare well until redesigns hit the road.

That's a full frontal crash. The new crash tests are from the front sides where there is no adequate protection as shown.

The new test is designed to test vehicles in different ways, the IS did well (very well) in previous tests. The 2012 is the same as the older models.

I think that the point to this video is first not to drive into a wall J/K but for real this is big deal our cars are horrible at front end crashes and will not hold up this is something to wonder about.

This crash is to point out a partial offset, meaning if you hit a wall head on with the front 25% of the vehicle. this type of accident isn't as common, but something to have the media hype up cause they are out of news. Not worried. If I was worried I would have kept my 1983 Volvo 240DL.
