Default S mode auto shift?

Hey Everyone,

As most of the people that keep up with the threads here know I just got a IS350 Fsport. I was testing the machine tonight, and people were right on the freeway the throttle response is half a second faster with sport mode on, but i noticed that the regular speed range on the freeway will automatically put me in 4th gear. It also does this even if im idle on a stop light. My question is if it hits redline does the computer automatically force it to switch to 5 or will I still need to manually shift it? Will the gears go back down itself if I slow down a lot?

Thanks everyone for the advice will test more soon, but I'm still in the breakin period!

The car is engineered so that you can't "break" it by being in sport mode and forgetting to shift. It's dummy proof in that aspect.

Is there a way to bypass this?

I have an 06 and my gears never switch up or down
automatically, I learned this the hard way when I first got the car.

It won't let you because it can't without causing damage. I don't understand why you'd want to break it...

And why did you bring this back from the grave. There's plenty of threads on how out car limits, not shifts.
