Default red out question

I just received my red out tape to put over the amber portion of my is 250 tail lights. It wasnt all what I expected though. The tape is as big as the amber portion, not the whole section of the tail light itself. is this what everyone else has used for their tail lights when applying red outs? I am just concerned that there will be a crease on the tail light itself where the red out meets the tail light casing.

also, it didnt come with a squeegie, where can i pick one up? what tools do i need?

Thanks guys/girls.

That last part is one of the most key elements to any modification.

i don't buy pre-cut....i juse buy a 24x24 and cut it according to what i need and use exacto knife to carve out the excess after slapping on the red vinyl...and i don't even use soapy water since it's such a small area

credit card doesn't work too well unless u wrap it with a mf towel...just went to local shop get a tinting squeegee for $10

x2

Just take your time and make sure you get ALL the bubbles out. Apply the soupy water on the tail light and vinyl. Also, clean the tail lights to the best of your abilities. Good luck!

I agree too, you really need to take your time on this. Even though it seems simple, take your time so you can get rid of all the bubbles. Good luck.

A bit off-topic, but does anyone have problems with their red outs after running your car through a car wash?

Nope not at all.

Yeah, I have been washing it myself. It's such a pain in the *** because my car is black. If I miss anything, it really shows up. Sometimes I feel quite lazy, and just run it through those "touchless" car washes. Hence my question about the car wash.

Can we just use regular red vinyl? My buddy owns a sign shop and has tons left over. Can I just slap it on or is there a special thin vinyl?

Just did mine yesterday, ordered from extreme vinlys for $9. I bought a squeegee from autozone for $5 it also came with an exacto knife even though I didn't need it. Just make sure you keep it wet when you squeegee out the air bubbles, you don't wanna scratch up the tint.
