Default cheap quick and easy caliper coating/paint

So I made the mistake of listening to the autozone guys recommendation as he was trying to sell me on their latest at the register impulse buy special. Superclean degreaser. I told him I had cakes on brake dust on my 08 is350 wheels and he said the super clean was what he used on his wheels and it worked great. Bad idea. Now the finish on my wheels is coming off and my calipers are discolored.

My question: is there a cheap quick and easy way to coat my calipers so they look closer to stock or maybe black so they don't look ugly anymore? After the superclean they have an ugly white chalky look on the surface that will not come off. I am mot interested in fancy caliper paint and 6 hours of labor : /

One of the only paints that works well is G2 caliper paint. It's guaranteed and has a warranty if it chips or peels. They will send you another kit if it does.

Yea I read that g2 was the most popular, but probably overkill for me, especially time wise. I would just do a hi temp spray paint in gray or silver to try to match the factory look, but I'm afraid it will not last long and look bad over time.....

Since your calipers are kinda messed up already, you should try cleaning it first to see if you can get rid of the discoloration. Try using "Bar Keepers Friend". It cleans metal stuff pretty well, got rid of rust stains on my kitchen knives. Keep it away from any painted surface (take your wheel off) since its active ingredient is an acid. Don't let it sit longer than a minute either.
You can find it in Walmart in the kitchen/bath cleaning section.

Don't know if it will work, but worth a shot.

I used simple green to clean them (very quickly, not a thorough job) and Rustoleum paint haha. It matched the bronze barrels of my rims so i used it. I only did it for an upcoming car show in April this year, didnt care if it flaked and chipped off and its holding strong still. Not bad for spraying the spray paint in a cup and brushing it on the calipers

I used caliper cleaner in spray can, sanded them good, and sprayed some high temp caliper paint. It is already a year and still looks like the first day when i did them.

You mean regular brake cleaner? What kind of paint, brand, color?

I used Duplicolor caliper cleaner and Duplicolor caliper paint. Sealed it with high temp clear coat too. Still looks like I just painted them.
