Default Removing Rubber Weather Strips

Hello,

I was wondering if removing the rubber weather strips that run along the side of the car at the bottom of the doors would be OK. Mine have become a bit deformed due to rust proofing oil and the installation of a skit kit has increased the gap causing the budge to be more apparent.

Is is safe to remove the rubber and leave the clips in? Any input would be appreciated.

I would replace it, it there for a reason. Unless you want water to go inside and more wind noise.
