Lexus Smart Key
Hey All,
I have a rather dumb question... so we all (assumed) have the remote key to unlock/lock doors and open the trunk. In the remote is the removable key (or emergency key?). What exactly is it used for? I recently had a loaner from Lexus and the removable key was not in the remote that was given to me for the loaner.
Just curious. Please don't bash too hard as I'm still relatively new to Lexus.
Thanks all!

It's for the glove compartment and to open the door of the smart keys run out of batteries. The small clip next to the drivers handle comes off if you stick the key under

Exactly!
If you have valuables in your trunk and don't want anybody (vallet parking people) opening your trunk, just press the little button(in glove compartment) and lock glove compartment with key/blade.
If you can't open your car with keyless entry (remote) you can open car with blade and have access to car, trunk etc. I am not sure if somebody mentioned in another thread that you can even place your key close to ignition and probably start car(not open doors) but start your car even when the battery is rally low. Does anybody know if I remember this correctly?
Good thing is that when your battery starts going low on juice, the display on your dashboard will let you know every time you start your car. Just make sure you replace it right away or have extras in your car.
Lots of learning to do. I have and still learning after 6 years with my car.
Good luck
