Updating Navigation
It would be an (expensive) hardware upgrade. You'd have to swap it out to a MY2010+ nav (which is HDD-based instead of DVD-based like your current nav). Not sure of the exact pricing, but I'm guessing $2k-ish.
Smartphone apps like Waze (or even plain old Google maps) are better for planning around traffic anyway. And you don't have to pay subscription fees. =)

I just updated to the Newest Map
which is the Lexus Navigation Gen 5 update 11.1 (2011) for North America. It's doesn't show traffic because we only have the Gen 5 navigation system.
Is250 2006-2009 are all Gen 5 and can use the same disk

even with the NAV update, it has more roads, but it still show you the longer route? it happen with me
it only has more update roads and POI, but it still use the longer route?
for example: I had Version 6 and 10.1 updated and I used both NAV to get to my friend house and both shown the same route, but there is a roads for closer distant. The Garmin is way better than our OEM NAV.
