First of all, I'd like to introduce myself, as this is my first post on the forum.
I live in England and have very recently bought an Approved Used silver IS 250 from my local Lexus dealership. My car is nearly two-and-a-half years old and has had one previous owner. So far I'm very pleased with it, and it is certainly a sizeable upgrade from my previous car, a Ford Fiesta!
I am very happy with the overall condition of my car, but it does have a fairly large number of stone chips on the front end. They are not particularly oversized and to be honest are only noticeable when you get really close, but I know they are there!
I wonder if it's worth getting a front end respray done at my Lexus dealership, as the car is still pretty new, or is that a bit drastic?
If I may suggest... considering you're upgrading from a Ford Fiesta, I take it you have fallen in love with your Lexus. Spend the money to repaint the hood/bumper and then wrap it with 3M. You will always notice and it will haunt you if you don't. Hence your first post on CL...
Once that's done, slam that baby on coilovers, add new shoes, lip kit and call it a day!

I have used them on my past two Lexus's.. Good stuff.
Personally, I wouldn't 3M as it discolors the paint after time and ends up looking worse than the paint itself as it fades. Plus, rocks still penetrate the 3M clear tape. My girlfriend just had to repaint my entire hood, get new bumper, and both side skirts do to that 3M stuff on her 2009 G37s because of sun fade.
I'm thinking of buying Dr. Colorchip as well but it seems like a hit or miss? I looked at couple review videos on youtube and while it does fix the very minor rock chips, it doesn't really do much on the bigger ones. Most of the people were saying how lightly you are suppose to wipe when you are applying the solution after using the touch up paint but I'm not so sure. Dackp143, do you have any before and after picture of ur car? I would love to see how well it works.
Just have the dealer touch up the chips. My dealer fixes all chips for free (with touch up paint). If you feel there are too many then just ask them to do a few each time you visit for oil changes etc.
I have never used the Lexus touchup paint, the Dr Color Chip I have used on my black onyx IS300 and my current white IS350. It works on scraps, chips, etc. Does it match? The black is spot on and the white is pretty good but at the end of the day its about covering up the metal because you don't want that to rust because then rust is like a virus and spreads.
Again, I have used Dr Color Chip for the past 5 years, heard about it on my.is threads.
Just look online and find some good tutorials, once you learn ho to be good at it then its a great way to keep from paying thousands of dollars over repainting and mismatching. Plus, repainting your car defaces its value as people assume your *** has been in a car accident. I know, I work at a car dealership and go to the auctions.
I don't have any before/after as I am not usually doing it for show on the forums.
Go to Google, search "drcolorchip IS350" and you will find tons of crap. quit searching using the forums' crappy search feature! Use Google and it will bring up CL.
